Bentonite MED is a high-quality product specially developed for internal use in humans. It selectively removes harmful substances from the environment and food. Similar to zeolite, bentonite is a volcanic mineral formed by the weathering of volcanic ash. Thanks to its layered structure and micronization, it possesses special properties. Bentonite is particularly well suited to binding harmful substances such as lead, mercury, cadmium, aluminum, and nickel through selective ion exchange and adsorption and gently excreting them through the intestines. In addition, bentonite forms a protective gel film in the gastrointestinal tract, making it ideal for people with sensitive stomachs or intestines.

Montmorillonite is a very soft phyllosilicate from the group of minerals that precipitate from an aqueous solution as microscopic crystals and are known as clay. It is named after Montmorillon in France. Montmorillonite, a member of the smectite group, is a 2:1 clay. The particles are platelet-shaped with an average diameter of about 16 micrometers. To "see" individual clay particles, approximately 25,000 times magnification with an electron microscope is required. The bentonite group also includes saponite, nontronite, beidellite, and hectorite. Montmorillonite bentonite is the bentonite relevant to human health. Montmorillonite bentonite has a remarkable swelling capacity. It can absorb six to seven times its dry mass in liquid. This swelling capacity has positive effects on intestinal health in humans, which can be helpful, for example, in cases of diarrhea.
